Here we go with number nine Blade Runner and my first that agrees with Nick. An excellent film noir, sci-fi, thriller: that has androids, flying police cars and all manner of weird futuristic stuff.

No I’m not talking about the cheesy 70′s sci fi with “Faceman” Dirk Benedict, I’m talking about the new series that started in 2004 and that has just started its third series. This isn’t your run of the mill cheesy sci-fi, this series is mainly based around the characters and the decisions they make and is very powerful stuff. The miniseries (pilot) and the first season can be picked up quite cheaply on DVD and I would recommend you pick it up.

I’ve just started watching this new TV drama and I think it’s excellent :)
Heroes
If any of you particularly enjoyed the bit in Spiderman where Peter Parker was finding his new abilities, then this is for you.
The story is about a group of people, all over the world who start developing super powers and how each one copes with these abilities. There are also “normal” people trying to find out who these people are. Not all of them are typical super heroes as well. You have an indestructible cheer leader, a japanese office worker who can “bend” time and an artist who can paint the future. I won’t tell you any more as it may spoil it when you come to see it.
I would definately recommend you watch this.

Thought I’d better start on my actualy top ten, that I said I would a couple of weeks ago.
Although I’m presenting these in a count-down order it doesn’t actually mean I like ten less than nine, but I probably like one more than ten.
Here we go, in at ten:

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels

Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
What can I say, it’s an amazing film, it’s a funny film and it’s British. What more could you want? If you haven’t seen it then go and see it and if you have seen it then you don’t need me going on about how good it is. Oh and it’s got Dexter Fletcher in in. He was in Press Gang when I was little.

This new BBC drama is actually quite good, although the actual amount of blood and fatalities I’ve seen so far is akin to the average episode of the A-Team (not much really). I know it’s only on at 7:00pm, but I’m sure you can’t have that many sword fights without dispatching a couple of the Sherrif’s guards. That aside I’m really enjoying it and I’m looking forward to next week’s installment.

I’ve just come back from my first business trip. I went to Barnelveld, Holland to see some of the IS people there and get a feel for a couple of projects we will working together on. We stayed in a very nice hotel Monday and I slept loads as I’d had to get up at 3:15 Monday morning to catch the early flight :(

I had a great time this weekend and I think everyone else did as well. :D It was a very relaxing couple of days and the time spent with John and Christine was excellent. The only thing I would say was that it was over far too quickly. They have already spoken about doing another one next year and I will definately be coming.

I’m off on a church weekend away tomorrow :) Should be great fun. Also I’m off to Holland for work Monday and Tuesday next week, that won’t be as fun, but should be interesting as I’ve never been on a business trip before. Got to catch a 6:00am flight though :(

I was partially inspired to start this diary thing by my good friend’s blog, Mind the Gap. He has been counting down his top ten films, so I thought I’d steal his idea and do my own. I started off with a quite a long list, which I then managed to cut down to about 20 films. I then spent a while cutting it down to my top ten, but before I start my top ten here are the “runner ups”:

  • Alien
  • Aliens
  • Reservoir Dogs
  • Abyss
  • Almost Famous
  • Avalon
  • Dune
  • Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
  • Fifth Element
  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail
  • Spider-Man
  • Strange Days

They aren’t necessarily my “top twenty” films, but they are all cracking films :)

I watched this film on Sunday as I’d finally got round to buying it on DVD (bargain price of £3.93 from Tesco Online).

This is a very funny film and isn’t the romantic film the title portrays. I wonder how many people who saw it at the cinema were disappointed/pleasantly surprised when it didn’t turn out to be as expected? There were some stunning smaller parts played by Mel Smith, Billy Crystal and Peter Falk. I would definately recommend this film as I found it hilarious and it could also work for children although it is a PG.
