Here we go with Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers I was going to put all three films as one choice, but I decided that would either be cheating or I’d have to have three of my top ten as LOTR films. This is my favourite of the three for two reasons, one it has some great battles in it and two it has ents in it (big walking, talking trees), excellent.

LOTR: Two Towers

I had always liked LOTR, since I read the Hobbit and the LOTR books as a child. I even went and read them again when I knew the films were coming out. Some people complained they were too long (I have the extended versions on DVD :) ) but I love them.

Back to less surprising films: The Matrix. I remember going to the cinema with Rob after seeing just a short television advert and being blown away by the film. In the same year I flew to America and they had it playing on the little screens, as the Matrix was longer than most of the other films I was able to watch the final twenty to thiry minutes about three times including the infamous lobby scene :D

Matrix

The DVD was also the first DVD that I ever bought on the internet (I also preordered so it was delivered on the release date :) ) and it was the third DVD I ever bought. Amazing film. It’s appeal has been reduced though by two visually amazing, but never the less crap sequels.

My whole website was down yesterday and I thought I’d lost all of my diary posts, as my server had been migrated wihtout telling me. One grovelling email last night and one very helpful support guy and I’m back in business.

On to number 8: The Lion King:
This is where the fun starts: or what I’d like to call “My Surprise Choices”. This is the one and only animated film in my top 10 and it isn’t Japanese (most of my favourite Japanese animations are long running TV shows).
The Lion King’s animation isn’t as good as most of Pixar’s offerings and I wouldn’t say it’s as funny as those either, but for the overall experience I prefer it. A great storyline, some excellent voice casting and some great catchy tunes make this film.

Lion King

Note: If you get the chance to go and see the musical, do, I would even say it’s better than the film.
