I saw a very cool band called Spoken Groove at Soul Survivor. They are a two piece Peter Nevland and Paul Finley. Paul play some amazing acoustic guitar, while Peter is a poet. He moved between speaking, rapping and singing throughout their set, which included various hilarious songs as well as some incredibly moving and intelligent pieces. I bought their first album “Acoustic Spoken Groove” which is very funky in places, if you like something a bit different I’d recommend you check them out.

I got back from spending a week at Soul Survivor on Saturday. I really enjoyed this year even though it seems to come back more knackered every year. We took a group of nine young people, but three of them were over eighteen. I enjoyed the worship in the meetings, but they did end up repeating a lot of songs. The talks were excellent and even though I’d heard a few bits before (particularly stories from J John and Mike Pilavachi) the talks by Andrew Croft and Ali Martin were very interesting and Jim Yost’s was awe inspiring and very daunting.

I’ll probably have some photos up sometime.

They are making an Alvin and Chipmunks movie :D The chipmunks are going to be CGI and Dave is being played by Jason Lee. I really hope this turns out to be great movie as I used to love watching the cartoon when I was a kid. There’s a short trailer on the website, looks good.

I saw Transformers last night and really enjoyed it, it was the perfect summer blockbuster. You had amazing special effects, lots of car chases, big explosions and huge robots kicking the crap out of each other :D

The plot wasn’t anything amazing, but the supporting actors (we all know the Transformers were the stars) did very well and I thought the two young stars (Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox) played their parts well, I particularly liked Shia’s portrayal of Sam and Bumblebee’s friendship. The film isn’t going to win any oscar, but is definately the film to see this summer. I do reserve the right to withdraw that comment if I see a better film.
