“Worship is the submission of all of our nature to God.
It is the quickening of the conscience by his holiness; the nourishment of mind with his truth; the purifying of imagination by his beauty; the opening of the heart to his love; the surrender of will to his purpose – all this gathered up in adoration, the most selfless emotion of which our nature is capable.” William Temple

Went to see Santana at the O2 on Sunday. It was an amazing gig, especially considering that Carlos Santana has been playing gigs since the 1960s, he can still rock with the best of them. Some of his solos were astounding. His band were also very good, including three different percussionist, trombone and trumpet players and a hammond organ. The show alternated between amazing instrumental pieces to the more recognisable (to me) vocal tracks like Black Magic Women, Smooth and Maria Maria.

The following is a picture I took on my camera:

and here i’ve cut together a few clips that I took on my camera (hence the poor quality):

The renowned special effects and make-up artist Stan Winston died on Sunday. I don’t usually post about this sort of thing, but Stan Winston was responsible for and involved in some of the most iconic special effects in movie history including Aliens, Predator, Terminator and Jurassic Park. He died Stan peacefully at home surrounded by family, but was also working on Terminator 4 before his cancer worsened.

Ages ago I posted that they were making a film based on Alvin and the Chipmunks. I eventually got around to watching it this weekend. I really enjoyed it, but mainly due to the interaction between Dave (played by Jason Lee) and the chipmunks, this wasn’t Jason Lee’s best performance, but he did quite well seeing as the other leads were all CGI. This was obviously a children’s film and the plot reinforces this fact, but the CGI chipmunks were quite impressive, even if the physical interaction with the other characters was a bit iffy at times. Definately one for the kids, whatever age the kids are ;)
