Torchwood: Children of Earth

Who said the BBC can’t do science fiction? The five part Torchwood special has been showing every night this week and has been met with unprecedented approval. This show has come a long way from the widely slated first series. Torchwood was originally marketed as ‘Doctor Who for grown ups’ and this season has finally lived up to the expectations. The final episode especially has some very harrowing scenes, including some excellent acting from Peter Capaldi. I’d go into details, but I’d spoil it. Go watch it on the iPlayer while you can. I’m awaiting news of a new series, which should be a sure thing after the success of this one.

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen

You really can’t beat giant robots beating the crap out of each other. This second Transformers film brings back more of the same, but louder and bigger. While I thought the first film lacked was transformers fighting and the latest doesn’t disappoint. While the plot isn’t going to win any Oscars, I really enjoyed the fight scenes and the transformer effects were even more impressive that the first film. The surprise humour, that really worked in the first film, was there as well. I’d recommend you go and see this if you enjoyed the first one.
